The layout is Minecraft's own 64×64 skin file: labelled regions are head, body, arms, legs (top row = base layer, second row = outer layer). Hover any pixel to see which body part and face it belongs to.

About the Skin Editor

A proper Minecraft skin editor and skin maker built around the real 64×64 layout. Pencil, eraser, fill, line, rectangle, shade and lighten tools; left↔right mirroring so arms and legs stay symmetrical; a base layer and an outer layer (hat, jacket, sleeves) you can paint separately. The 3D character on the right walks, runs, waves, sneaks, sits and flies as you paint, so you see exactly how a change reads in-game.

Load any skin PNG (64×64 or the old 64×32 format — it's converted automatically), shift the hue of the whole skin, mirror it, or start from a blank template. Undo is unlimited and everything stays on your computer.

Frequently asked

Which layer is the hat?

The outer layer. Tick "Paint on outer layer" — it sits half a pixel above the base and is transparent by default, so anything you paint there floats over the skin.

Why do my arms look wrong?

Check the arm model. Slim (Alex) arms are 3 pixels wide, classic (Steve) arms are 4. The editor auto-detects on load; switch it in the Skin panel if needed.
